For Dolphins’ Hall of Fame Honorees It’s Miami or Bust!
MWFA Special Projects - Publish Date: November-04-2005
Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga was looking for a special way to honor his organization’s most decorated players.  Seeking to deliver a congratulatory thank-you to players such as Dan Marino, a 2005 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Huizenga thought to display the bronze busts of the great Dolphins and honor them in their home stadium in south Florida.

One small problem; Hall of Fame busts had never left Canton, Ohio.  Undeterred, Huizenga pushed forward with his ideas to honor Miami greats including Don Shula and Larry Csonka, and the Hall of Fame agreed to allow them to be displayed in Florida for one week, including a Dolphins home game.

Carney-McNicholas, Inc. driver Mike Faustini delivered the exhibit, which included the busts and other Dolphins memorabilia, to Miami Dolphins Stadium, just north of the city of Miami. In the accompanying picture, you can see Faustini carefully removing the bust of Dan Marino, whose NFL record 61,361 career passing yards drove him from Miami to the Hall of Fame in Canton.

Faustini drove his Carney-McNicholas, Inc. truck from the Hall of Fame. And after driving 61,361 yards, or about 35 miles, Faustini still had about 1,100 miles to go before hitting his intended receiver on the shores of Miami.  But he completed the pass, and the drive continues.
