YOUNGSTOWN, OH - MidWest F.A.S.T. was the fine art transport company hired to collect and move the exhibition pieces for "AGENCY: Art and Advertising" currently at The McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of Youngstown State University. This will open its 2008/2009 exhibition season and will be featured in the galleries at the Museum beginning September 19 and continues through November 8, 2008. An opening reception will be held on Friday, September 19 from 6-8pm. This event, and the Museum, are free and open to the public. Fine art driving team of Nick Matos and Tim Carney navigated the company owned climate controlled straight truck through thirteen stops at galleries, artist studios and the residences of private collectors in northern New Jersey, and the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The exhibition, curated by Kevin Concannon, PhD, and John Noga, will focus on works of art in and about advertising media from the 1960s to the present. The exhibition explores artists’ use of advertising media as sites for works of art (as opposed to the more conventional use of advertising for the promotion of work) as well as its subject. Artists’ billboards by Geoffrey Hendricks, Marilyn Minter, Yoko Ono, and Felix Gonzalez-Torres will be featured throughout the Youngstown metropolitan area as part of this exhibition. The McDonough Museum will publish an exhibition catalog featuring essays by both curators. McDonough Museum of Art Tuesday through Saturday, 11-4pm Wednesday 11am-8pm Free and open to the public.
